Why is College Important?
By Abbey A.
A lot of people have probably asked this question, “Why is college important?” Well, I can tell you why! According to collegeview.com, college opens up many opportunities. It really does. There are so many jobs that require a college degree. If you have a college degree, you could get a proper job. Even if you only get your bachelor’s degree, you can still become a teacher, nurse, web designer, and much more. With a master’s degree, you could become a principal, physician’s assistant, social worker, and more. With a doctorate, you could become an orthodontist, a pediatrician, or a physical therapist.
For some of these jobs, you have to do a residency for three years, but isn’t it worth it? To become a pediatrician, you have to have a doctorate and do a residency for three years. Keep in mind that the average pay per year for a pediatrician is $137,000. Wow, did you read that? One hundred thirty-seven thousand dollars per year! I certainly think the eight years of college and the three years of residency are worth it!
But, do not jump to conclusions just yet. You should not have a job which you are not going to like. Do not get a specific job just so you can make a lot of money. There are lots of jobs open out there for people with college degrees. You just have to get out there and find one. Before you do though, you need to take the following into consideration. First of all, what are your interests? Do you like to sing, teach, dance, help people, or what? Second, you need to take a look at the salaries. Would the salary be good for you? Those are the questions you need to ask yourself when choosing a career.
Now, do you see why college is important? There are way more opportunities out there if you have a college degree. Also, the more education you have, the higher your salary will be. I definitely think that going to college is worth it and I hope you do, too!
