The Big Ball of Spacey-Wacey
Doctor Who? Doctor Who is a British show about a Time Lord, named the Doctor, and his many companions. The show came out November, 23, 1963. There have been many actors playing the Doctor. Much like James Bond, he continues on living, but with different faces. Many ask, how or why? When the Doctor “regenerates”, he changes his face, letting many actors play the doctor and have the plot line still make sense.
The first season came out with William Hartnell as the first Doctor. William Hartnell was the first actor considered for Doctor Who. Due to a medical sickness, William Hartnell was forced to retire thus bringing in a new actor to play the Doctor. William Hartnell mentions “We did it in 48 weeks and it was hard work.” After Mr. Hartnell left he was replaced with Patrick Troughton. Patrick Troughton in 1963 got the role to play the Doctor. He had “A whale of time” being the Doctor.
Each Doctor had their own special characteristics. The first Doctor was more of a grandpa figure to his companions. The second Doctor had a flute he loved to play. The third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee, was dapper; he had a lab in the alien detection service U.N.I.T. The fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker, was famous for his long scarf and his jelly babies. The fifth Doctor, played by Peter Davison, was the last to use the famous sonic screwdriver in the classic episodes. The sixth Doctor, played by Colin Baker, was famous for being melodramatic; he saw the serious part of every situation. The seventh Doctor, played by Sylvester McCoy, was famous for the era noted for the Doctor Who cancellation. The eight Doctor, played by Paul Mc Gann, was famous for be being an optimist and a romantic Doctor. The ninth Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston, was famous for saying “Fantastic!” The tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, was famous for his converse and as well as his saying “Allonsy” which is French for let’s go. The eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, was famous for his bowtie, his fez and for his saying, “Geronimo!”
Many Doctor’s had their own traits, but they were, and are always, the same man. Doctor Who is a wonderful show and I recommend that people should watch it if they like science fiction.
