The Ultimate Prom Guide for Girls
By Meg M.
This article offers some advice for girls who may be attending prom.
Prom: The most exciting and anticipated event in the lives of many teens. When you close your eyes and imagine the perfect prom, what do you see? A beautiful dress? A stunning date? This night is for you! Not only do you want to look like a queen on the dance floor, but you also want to feel like one by the end of the night. Here are a few things that are important to know, whether it’s your first or last prom experience.
1. The Dress
Prom dress shopping can be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. You may have spent the last month daydreaming about the day you go dress shopping, and might have the perfect dress in mind. But sometimes it takes a few trips and different locations to find what you can afford and fall in love with. Don’t get discouraged when you leave a shop empty-handed. You’ll find your dream dress. Don’t rush or settle for less.
2. The Shoes
There are so many choices for the shoes. Most high-heeled shoes will be suitable; you just need to make sure that you can spend multiple hours in them. When choosing high-heeled shoes, find a height at which you will be comfortable walking and dancing in all night. You do not want your only memories from the prom to be how uncomfortable your shoes were and how sore your legs were the next day!
3. Make Time for Yourself
For this special night, you want to feel amazing and stunning beyond compare. A few days before prom, pamper yourself! This doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money on massages and waxing. If that suits you, then do it! If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, paint your nails, make a homemade facemask, use teeth whitening strips, plan a spa day with some friends, and have fun! You should try any new products at least a week before prom, just in case your skin has a bad reaction to the product.
4. Take Care of Yourself
About a month before the dance, you may want to eat less junk food, drink more water, and exercise a little more than normal. This step is completely optional, but toning yourself a little before prom may make you feel even better and smile even wider.
5. Be Prepared
If you have chosen to take a clutch purse or bag, make sure you have everything you need inside of it! This could include bobby pins, gum or mints, a hair tie, lip-gloss or ChapStick, a safety pin, and a small perfume sample bottle filled with your favorite perfume.
Most importantly, have fun, be you, and make memories!
