Sinai Plane Crash
By Myah T.
Heartbreaking news from Russia; On Saturday October 31st 2015, a Russian airliner, the Metro-jet flight 9268 was on its way from Sharm el-Sheikh Egypt to St. Petersburg Russia when it crashed mid-air over Sinai Egypt. Sadly, all 224 lives on board were lost in the crash, including the pilot and co-pilot. There are many possibilities that could have made flight 9268 crash, but the most likely reason is mechanical failure, according to experts. Ironically, fourteen years earlier in 2001, the same plane crashed when its tail struck the runway while attempting to land. Fortunately nobody was hurt at that time and only repairs were required.
The plane came down over the Northern Sinai Peninsula and the wreckage was littered over several square miles. The crash is now known to be the worst air disaster in the country of Egypt. Family will begin identifying their loved ones who perished once all the bodies arrive back in Russia at the city’s crematorium.
The black box has been recovered and we will likely have official reports in the weeks to come. The country of Russia is in mourning and we will continue to pray for the lives lost and the loved ones that were left behind.
