Rising to Fame
Grace VanderWaal, born January 15, 2004 was signed up for America’s Got Talent in September of 2016. She was twelve at the time, and her mother had called her downstairs. She quickly informed Grace that she had signed her up for America’s Got Talent. Grace said OK and began to right her famous song “I Don’t Know My Name.” Appearing on the stage like a nervous twelve year-old, she wowed the judges with her incredible voice, leading to Howie Mandel’s golden buzzer. Simon, another judge, predicted that she would become the next Taylor Swift. She was sent straight to the live shows, and then to the quarter finals, semi-finals, the finale, and then to the winner spot on the show. She cried tears of disbelief as the judges came and gave her a hug. She also respectfully shook hands with the other contestants.
Celebrities often boost other celebrities up, because it is hard to be in a world of so much fame and stay true to yourself, and Grace is no exception to the other celebrities. Celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Justin Bieber have reposted her video commenting about how amazing she is. A short video clip reveals her reading the tag off of some flowers… from Taylor Swift, who is also following Grace on Twitter. She is going on tour soon, and she has currently got her own music channel on YouTube, called GraceVanderWaalVEVO. She has captured fans all over the world and has inspired young girls and boys alike to become who they want to be.
People have often seen good celebrities turn bad. But will this happen to Grace? It’s hard to tell, but she is so far dealing with her internet fame very well. She says that sometimes it is too much, but with the help of her mom and sister, she is able to stay true to herself and continue to be a sweet 12 year-old girl.
