Indoor Workout Routines
By Alana H.
Too cold to go for a run? No worries with these easy indoor exercises.
So as usual, a few pounds were probably added to America’s waistline after the holiday binges, but the cold whether prevents us from going outside for some good cardio. Luckily, there are 3 great ways to get your heart pumping in the comfort of your own warm house.
1. Dance party
One of the most fun and effective ways to burn calories and get your heart pumping is to turn on your favorite song and go wild. You can find cardio dance routines online or make one up yourself. Whatever you do just remember to have fun!
If you have steps in your house, you can use them for your workout! You can run simply run up and down them a few times (skipping steps will make this more effective) or you can stand at the base of the steps and jump to the highest stem possible and jog back down repeating this as many times as necessary. Make sure you are careful, though.
This is a simple cardio move with different variations that can be used depending on your fitness level. In a classic burpee, you jump up into the air and when your feet touch the ground again you immediately go into a squat. After this you kick your legs back so that you are in a standard plank. Then you do one pushup and pull your legs back into a squat and repeat. For different and easier variations when you go into a plank you can lower yourself to your knees to do the push up, or forego the pushup all together.
You don’t have to run a marathon or finish a triathlon to be considered fit. These three exercises are excellent ways to strengthen your muscles and lungs and to shed those pounds. Today is the day to be the best you can be.
